emotional and psychological well
being in a neurodiverse society.
Welcome Message
Welcome to the website of the Brain Health Association of Hong Kong.
We have always believed that neurodiverse individuals possess unique talents. Numerous academic studies indicate that neurodiverse people have exceptional creative thinking, logical reasoning, and visual thinking abilities, which can enhance the work efficiency of neurotypical teams by 30%. Figures like Einstein, Darwin, and Van Gogh interacted with the world in different ways, advancing the development of the humanities.
In recent years, various sectors of society have been actively promoting the concept of supporting diversity and inclusion. Government reports mention optimizing teacher staffing to provide additional learning and growth support for neurodiverse students. Meanwhile, the business community is expanding its social responsibility in this area, evolving from CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) over the past few years. The abilities of neurodiverse individuals are increasingly being recognized, allowing them to avoid the need to “camouflage” their communication styles and body language to conform to the norms of a neurotypical society.
As an endocrinologist and oncologist, I deeply understand the physical and mental suffering that illness brings to patients, and I have a profound appreciation for the saying “prevention is better than cure.” To help the public understand that brain health is not an inaccessible field of knowledge, we utilize the Re:Mind project to present relevant scientific knowledge and health information in an accessible manner. The association also collaborates with industry stakeholders, social welfare, and educational institutions to leverage our strengths and work towards positively changing societal perceptions of neurodiverse individuals, promoting the development of an inclusive society for neurodiversity.
