Introduction

The Brain Health Association of Hong Kong is dedicated to promoting the increasingly relevant global topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), with a focus on enhancing public understanding and acceptance of Neurodiversity. The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 15%-20% of the global population possesses neurodiverse traits. These individuals may exhibit differences in cognitive behavior due to variations in their nervous systems, impacting areas such as daily social interactions, learning abilities, and emotional expression.

Due to a lack of understanding in society, many neurodiverse individuals conform their behavior and hide their unique traits to avoid rejection and meet societal expectations. This leads to significant stress and difficulty in receiving support. We must create inclusive environments across various sectors—such as society, education, and the workplace—so that neurodiverse individuals can fully express their unique talents and contributions.
